Exciting Updates on Pharmacy First Services: Improved Access and Simplified Procedures
Hello everyone!
We bring you fantastic news about the Pharmacy First Service and noteworthy changes to the Oral Contraception and Blood Pressure Services. These updates not only benefit pharmacies but also enhance accessibility for our valued patients.
Over the next few weeks, anticipate a flow of new information, with comprehensive updates on our websites and information packs dispatched to all pharmacies in January—both hard copies and e-copies. Stay tuned!
The Blood Pressure Service Specification has been revamped and published ready for relaunch on December 1st and all trained staff will be able to provide it. Shortly after, the Oral Contraception updates will follow, combining Tier 1 and Tier 2 with simplified training requirements. Ensure you sign up promptly if you haven’t already. For those on Oral Contraception Service Tier 1, re-registration is necessary for the new combined service. You will need to check out the local formularies to inform value based choice of contraception options.
Excitingly, Pharmacy First will merge the current CPCS (Urgent Supply and Minor Illness) while integrating the 7 Common Conditions PGD element by the end of January 2024. Be prepared to provide all three elements, with the Common Condition element available as a walk-in option.
