Expanded Children’s Flu Vaccination Service Launching October 2026

Expanded Children’s Flu Vaccination Service Launching October 2026

The national pilot flu vaccination service for children is expanding into an Advanced service starting 1 October 2026. Following successful negotiations by Community Pharmacy England and other pharmacy bodies, the scheme introduces newly eligible patient cohorts and a funding boost

Key Updates
    • Increased Funding: Contractors will receive £10.06 per vaccination (up from £9.58) for the 2026/27 season, with funding coming directly from NHS vaccination budgets rather than the core CPCF sum.
    • Vaccine Type: The service primarily uses the centrally procured Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine (LAIV) nasal spray.

Service Eligibility & Expansion
    • Childhood Flu: From 1st October 2026, the service covers children aged 2-3 and at-risk children aged 2-18. Catch-up sessions for school-aged children start 1st December 2026.
    • Adult Expansion: The service now includes individuals aged 16+ experiencing homelessness or in shelters.
