Preparing for our AGM and Annual Report: Reflecting on Community Pharmacy Challenges

As we dive into the depths of preparing our annual report and solidifying our strategy for the next 1-3 years, we reflect on the twists and turns of this past year. It’s been nothing short of interesting, with new services emerging in the pharmacy realm and additional funding injected as part of the Recovery Plan.

However, amidst these changes, a lingering concern remains. While new services have brought promise, they have not addressed the pressing issue of funding for the core elements of the Contractual Framework. This shortfall directly impacts our ability as Contractors to deliver both additional services and essential functions, with some reporting financial losses.

The need for a sustainable new settlement is paramount. Community Pharmacy England (CPE) has taken proactive steps, seeking support from Contractors through surveys and audits to gather evidence. They’ve also called for case studies to highlight financial concerns, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

As we navigate these challenges, let’s remember the resilience of our community. Together, we can advocate for a viable solution that ensures the sustainability and vitality of community pharmacies for years to come.

Look out for the annual report and accounts in early August ahead of our AGM on 19th September.

Stay tuned for updates as we forge ahead on this journey of change and adaptation.
